How it all started...
In January 2011, approximately a dozen people began having a Bible study and prayer time in Spencer Hutson's home in Cuba, MO. The group began to dream about a non-traditional church plant that would target unchurched and de-churched individuals. A demographic study revealed there was a need for a church north of I-44 in Cuba where many residents were outdoorsmen, farmers, and horsemen.
The Missouri Baptist Convention Church Planting Department recommended church planter pastor, David Kenyon, who had just helped plant Laclede County Cowboy Church. David began to meet with the group on Sunday evenings until the Lord led them to a small building at Lady Bug RV Park on Hwy F near Cuba that was available for rent. Our first service was Sunday morning, September 25, 2011 followed by a potluck dinner.

Expanding the vision...
When the congregation outgrew the small building, its owners, Mitch and Charlotte Spurgeon, allowed us to place a 40 x 60 meeting tent on the property along with an enclosed trailer for storage. The tent was set up March 1, 2012 and attendance continued to grow. We officially established Deer Creek Church on Easter Sunday, April 8, 2012, with 100 people in attendance.
By early fall of the same year, the Spurgeons built a 44 x 100 metal barn that the church could rent. When it got colder, the church purchased poultry barn heaters to heat the building. In 2017, the Spuegeons gave Deer Creek the opportunity to purchase the entire property. The church made the purchase and has since made many improvements to adapt the property for ministry.
Pastor David Kenyon led Deer Creek from September 2011 through May 2014. Timothy Gibson served as pastor from May 2014 through May 2016. After that, Dwain Carter became Interim Pastor until he introduced the church to Tommy Miller, who was called as pastor in October 2016 and continues in the position today.
